This class is for those progressing to Common European Framework of Reference B1 (Lower Intermediate). Thursdays, 19:30, by Zoom. The coursebook is Cara Kernowek Book Three, with lessons available in pdf format while we road-test it. Fully compatible with all the podcasts and literature on this website.
This class is not currently exam-oriented. There is a strong emphasis on speaking Cornish authentically, idiomatically and with confidence. Everything is bench-marked against historical evidence. The tutor is Ian Jackson, a qualified languages teacher and author of Gerlyver Kescows – a Cornish dictionary for conversation. Places on the course are subject to availability. There is no charge. Participants will be provided with electronic copies of the course materials.
Literature is selected for study according to the interests of class members. We are currently looking at the first two branches of the Mabinogi in the classic translation by A.S.D. Smith 'Caradar' (1934), available on the Literature page of this website.
The class is open to new joiners whose Cornish is already at CEFR Level A2. Contact Us.
