LOWENA

JORY
Yw marhogeth cales?
LOWENA
Res yw spêna termyn hir ow tesky pùptra. Res yw dhis desky fatla wrêta settya an dyber ha’n hernes i’n tyller ewn kyns oll, ha wosa hedna res yw desky kerdhes gans an margh.
JORY
Yw merhyk dha gowethes dov?
LOWENA
Yw, ev yw mar dhov avell colyn ha dâ in daromres.
JORY
Esta ow mos dhe glùb, Lowena?
LOWENA
Nag esof. Esta jy?
JORY
Esof, yth esof vy ow mos dhe’n clùb gwëdhpoll. Sensys hedhyw yth yw.
LOWENA
Esta ow qwary yn tâ, Jory?
JORY
Ô, yth esof ow qwary dâ lowr. Y whrug vy fetha ow descador. Cowlardak in deg môvyans.
LOWENA

JORY

Note me ha tas for ‘father and I’. The English rule that ‘I’ may not come first in such a phrase does not apply in Cornish.
Gòn, gosta, gor are inflected present tense forms of godhvos. This verb means both ‘know’ and ‘know how to’.
